Mali - Alocasia Wentii
Mali comes from South East Asia, so it may not be surprising to see that her ears seem to be shaped in tribute to the gentle giants of her home. Despite her green, large leaves with those deep purple undersides, Mali sn’t quite as formidable as the animals she’s inspired by. Though she can grow up to 1 meter high and 1 meter wide, she still knows when to show restraint.

Let Mali into your home for large, welcome splashes of deep greens and purples that play well in a number of spaces, from open office settings to the finishing touch for a living room.

care tips

light & location:
Mali needs a lot of bright light to grow well, but direct sunbeams can burn her purple part. Place her in a spot with a lot of indirect sunlight, ideally next to a bright window. If your room is well lit, any bright spot that does not receive strong direct sunlight is good.

water:
Allow the top 3-5 cm of the soil to dry before watering, about once every 5-7 days in the summer and less often in the winter.
Mali likes to live in slightly moist soil, but is also sensitive to soggy soil and prone to rot roots if overwatered, so it’s always best to let the soil be your guide.

temperature:
Mali can live in a wide range of temperatures, between 13-30º C. Temperatures colder than that can harm her.

humidity:
A high humidity level is needed in order to keep Mali happy. You can mist her frequently, group her with other plants or use a humidifier. Alternatively, if your bathroom is sunny, placing Mali there is a great solution. Brown leaf edges are a sign of lack of humidity.

toxicity:
Slightly toxic to animals and humans and can cause irritation if ingested.
